This stone inscription from 1342CE, typical of Hoysala inscriptions has an emblem (a man’s body with two opposing bird heads fighting a tiger) at the top of the inscription. The inscription records a ‘daana’ (donation), a ‘sarvamanya kodige’ (tax exemption to lands or villages) to the ‘savantadhipathi’s‘ (chieftain’s) son Allayya. The villages gifted include Somidevanahalli (Soladevanahalli), Kalitammanahalli (Thamenahalli), Petedri, Mavinakere & Huravamardiyakere. The gift is made by the maha-pasayita (an officer overseeing the arrangements in palace, supervising protocol and presentation of gifts) with the very interesting honorific: champion of moustaches!!!!
